It tells us all the great things about listening to music, but it also says this:
"Music sticks with you. There’s a reason those old boy band songs never fade from your heart: Music is the ultimate prompt for nostalgia. Experts believe that your brain stays attached to music from your youth because you listened to it when you were gaining a sense of yourself, your social connections and the world around you. In a way, music informed your identity. "
Woah, what? Music informed your identity? Yep, that's why we focus on lyrics. You don't even realize it, you think you are just grooving along to a good beat and catchy lyrics., but underneath it all it is sinking in.

TRUST- It's that easy
We can just put all the lyrics here and call it done. Honestly. These lyrics say it all:
"I ain't trippin' when you do too much
'Cause I know they gon' look but they can't touch
And nothing but these sheets come between us
'Cause I know I'm the only one
'Cause you're all dressed up with your girls downtown tonight
It's alright (what's up?)
And you're too drunk, but you can't tell
'Cause you look so good when you're havin' one hell of a time
I don't mind (no, no)
Even if you're comin' home at three
You're comin' home to me
Miss me with that jealousy
'Cause I ain't with that sh**, babe
Trust
I know a lot of other guys are gonna buy you a drink
It don't phase me (nah-nah)
I'm proud of you, baby (ayy)
Mm, go stupid (go stupid)
I know you wanna post that picture
Baby, you don't need permission to do it
You know you're doing it right....."

Fakers Not Wanted Here
In Lauv and Conan Gray’s song “Fake” they put to lyrics all of our feelings about all the fake people in our lives. We wish everyone would just be real and true, our partners especially. To build a healthy relationship, you have to be 100% you for the relationship to work. There should be no mind games, no toxicity. Conan Gray said, “Lauv and I wrote ‘Fake’ while we were just hanging and ranting about those two-faced people everybody knows. Those people who say one thing and do the other, people who constantly talk trash about their own friends. We wanted to make something fun you can scream in the car to, a song to flip a bird at those types of people." So everyone out there, if you are not be honest and true, loyal and true, “When the real you is back, I’ll pick up my phone.”
Who are you stuck with during quarantine?
Stuck with the one you love in quarantine? It’s full of ups and downs and this is perfectly told in the song Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber released, “Stuck with You.”
“I'm not one to stick around. One strike and you're out, baby…But you never let me down, no. That's why when the sun's up, I'm stayin'.” That is the best part of relationships, when you know that someone is there for you and won’t let you down.
This doesn’t mean that relationships are totally perfect and there are no problems. And chances are, being stuck with someone 24/7 can make things a little wonky. The lyrics describe this in a fun way, but it is so true. “It's just you and me, and there's nothin' I can do. I'm stuck with you, So, go ahead and drive me insane. Baby, run your mouth, I still wouldn't change. Being stuck with you.”,
Instead of dwelling on the fact that you are trapped, the lyrics give us a way of spending that time to make our relationship better. “There's nowhere we need to be, I'ma get to know you better. Kinda hope we're here forever.”
I don’t really want this quarantine to go on forever, but when you are stuck with the right person, it doesn’t have to be horrible.

"Still Learning to Love Myself"
So many of us are walking around with these same thoughts that Halsey expresses in "Still Learning." "Comin' apart at the seams, And no one around me knows, Who I am, what I'm on, Who I've hurt and where they've gone. I know that I've done some wrong, But I'm tryna make it right."
Halsey apologizes to those she loves, says she is trying to make things right and she is trying to learn to love herself. If we love ourselves, it is easier to accept the good things in our lives- to know that we deserve those good things. We can also truly be ourselves and know that we are loved for who we are, not just who we pretend to be.
Halsey also describes her life isn't all sunshine and roses. We can't wait for money or fame to define our happiness or anything else we keep thinking, "If only I had _________, I could be happy." Halsey describes how she should be happy with her money and fame, but it hasn't made her life better. Things don't make life better.
How do we learn to love ourselves? First, we have to be kind to ourselves, not just be kind to others. We have all made mistakes and had others hurt us and it can be hard to accept ourselves flaws and all. We have to stop the negative self-talk and remember that no one is perfect and we all are struggling. Loving yourself is a life-long process. "Oh, I try and I try to remember sometimes, If I breathe, it's alright." Is ok to be you, to hurt, to be unsure, to be afraid. It is ok to ask for help and to sometimes take a break from people. However you feel, it is ok. But don't get trapped by those negative thoughts, work through them. Figure out where they are coming from and take control. Reflect on some of the positive in your life. Find some hope and grab onto it.

"I just want to be wanted."
OneRepubic's song "Wanted" resonates with a lot of us. It is not a romantic relationship song specifically, it is a cry for some kind of connection to anyone. We think many people can feel like the girl in this song, "Yeah I just want to be wanted, oh I could use a little love sometimes. I just need to be needed. Like to know I'm crossin' someone's mind." It is normal to feel like you are all alone and that no one really knows who you are.
It is great that this girl reached out for help. So many people keep these feelings inside and hold in the hurt. There is no shame in sharing these feelings and asking for someone to understand.
It is also important to look inside yourself and find your worth. Don't think about what might have been, look to what your possibilities are. You are a whole and complete person with value even if you are alone. Learning to love yourself is a journey, but it begins with the one step forward. Discover who you are and accept your flaws and mistakes and celebrate your small successes.

11 Minutes...of obsession?
"11 Minutes" with Halsey and Yungblud (and Travis Barker): It felt like a long 11 minutes and in reality, the video is only 5 minutes long. The lyrics are about mourning the loss of a relationship and wanting it back. The video is a little sadder because it is more about the grieving stages of losing someone who has died. We have so much to say about this.
1. Saying "I'm 11 minutes away, so why aren't you here?" sounds a bit like a stalker.
2. "I'm just thinking all thoughts up in my mind" Totally natural. It can be hard to leave the memories.
3. "I would sell my soul for a bit more time." creepy or romantic? We think creepy.
4. "I'm sorry there was no one to apologize...I'm so f** sorry" We are all responsible for our actions, important to apologize when you have done something wrong, not just sorry that things are over.
5. "I've been playing somebody and it's helping nobody." We should just be ourselves, keep it real. Then we know the love is real.
6. "I'm down and depressed." Very real. I think we have all been there.
7. "Tell me what you need, I can make you more than what you are." Ummmm, do you really think you can change me? What if I like who I am? Am I not good enough? You certainly seem to want me.
8. "Call me stupid, call me sad; You're the best I've ever had, you're the worst I've ever had; and that keeps f** with my head." Sounds a bit like an abusive relationship with the ups and downs. We think you are better off without them.

Are Expectations a bad thing?
We had a good debate over Lauren Jauregui's song "Expectations." The lyrics are definitely crying out for some better communication in this relationship. She sings about this strained and dying relationship. It seems that her partner is cheating on her (or so she thinks- we do have to be careful about assumptions) and that the partner is blaming her for not fulfilling their expectations; yet they aren't fulfilling her wants and needs- communication, respect, and comfort. She wishes they had no expectations to make it easier to deal with the relationship.
But, you should have some basic expectations, like respect and trust- these are realistic expectations. We do have to be careful of unrealistic expectations- spending all your time together, one partner making all the decisions, no privacy because we share everything. These can lead to control and abuse.
"All I need from your side is for you to communicate. Respect for my time, respect for my space, respect for my energy." These are healthy expectations and we all deserve these basic needs.
BUT THE VIDEO!!! Ugh, we could do without the violent ending.

Moving On with "Thank you, Next"
We love a good break up song and Ariana Grande delivers a powerful message in her "Thank you, next." Throughout this song, she appreciates and thanks her exes for teaching her lessons that have made her into the amazing person she is today. She doesn't call out her exes in a bad way, although she does mention a few names. She doesn't say how horrible they were and list every bad thing they did, but she says she learned good things and painful things, but she is ok. The best thing she learned was to love herself and that she doesn't need another person to make her happy, she is ok just loving herself. She is moving onto better things. She can give hope to those who are hurting from a past relationship- learn from them, let them go, and love yourself. There are better things to come.
What will make your partner "Happier" might make you sad.
"Happier" my Marshmello and Bastille will have you signing along, it sounds so peppy. Bastille sings so beautifully. Surprise! When you listen to the lyrics, you will realize that this is not necessarily a happy song.
He sings, "I want to raise your spirits" and "I want you to be happier" and he realizes the best way to do this is to leave. He clearly loves his partner, but they argue and he sees that their relationship really isn't the best. He doesn't want to think about someone else with his partner, but he puts aside those feelings to do what is best. Hand claps and finger snaps!

"Love Lies" Khalid and Normani
Here we are with another Khalid song. In "Love Lies" Khalid is looking for a "lover to trust" and we all know that trust is one of the most important qualities to have in a relationship. He also isn't very pushy "Don't be afraid to tell me if you aren't with it." It's great to get consent and even better when you ask for it. And he is even "here to listen." Two thumbs up for Khalid.
Normani seems to to have been in an unhealthy relationship that she craved even when "it's bad for you." This happens in many bad relationships because you love the good parts so you deal with the bad.
It sounds like they are trying to figure each other out and to see if they will be able to open up to each other before diving in. Hopefully their love lies with both being happy and safe.
"Ocean" Martin Garrix featuring Khalid
Khalid's "heartfelt" love song , is largely about the writers commitment to their significant other "And in the dark times, you don't have to question. If I'm a hundred with you". Khalid uses metaphors such as "You could build a wall, I would run it up" to exaggerate how he would try and overcome any obstacle to be with his partner. They also describe the great lengths they would go for their love such as "You could put an ocean between our love, it won't keep us apart".
"Be Careful" - Clean Version
When Cardi B performed "Be Caerful" on SNL, she had to sing a clean version for TV, and we are so glad she did. We love how she talks to her SO. She isn't that happy with him, but she doesn't put him down, she just explains what she is feeling.
#1 was that she knows her self-worth and she knows she doesn't deserve to be treated badly or cheated on "You might have a fortune, but you lose me, you still gon' be misfortunate"
#2 just because he was creeping, she won't go out and do the same to get back at him "that's not my MO." And another bonus was she doesn't put down the girls he was with.
#3 He made he feel like something was wrong with her and she realizes this and knows she should leave "It's gon' hurt me to hate you, but lovin' you's worse."
The only part that made us pause was her line "Man, I thought you would've learned your lesson 'Bout liking pictures, not returnin' texts." Anyone should have the freedom to 'like' anyone's photos, just maybe not put inappropriate comments on them. And sometimes we don't return texts right away, doesn't mean we are out doing something wrong. Maybe we don't have anything to say, we are in the bathroom, we are hanging with friends or family, or maybe taking a nap. Just chill.
But overall, not bad Cardi B!

Lovely song- unlovely way to be treated
Khalid's sort-of love song laments over a love that has hurt him deeply. His words hit hard as he talks about this painful relationship. It sounds like he gave up a lot of himself to be with this person... "over family, I put you first" and he would do anything for this person... "I would ride for you". But clearly, his partner didn't see things the same way because he hints at being cheated on and says, "I've been knocked down by you". Overall, we really enjoy this song, but we wouldn't want to find ourselves in a similar relationship. "I never knew how much our love could hurt" -love shouldn't hurt!
Fairy Tale Bliss
The Chainsmokers and Coldplay combined to create a fairy tale bliss of a song both lyrically and visually. " It is a pretty simple song with a catchy sound." We all loved the video, it was so fun. Here are some thoughts about the lyrics:
"The song is saying you don't have to be perfect. You can be extraordinary and unique. You don't have to reach expectations of superheroes or fairy tales."
"It was good. They want to explore and enjoy life together."
"it's about loving someone realistically. To accept your partner for who they are."
"It talks about somebody to miss, you have to be able to miss someone in a healthy relationship. Not in a sad way, a desperate way, just in the way that as you spend time by yourself enjoying things individually, you miss your partner. But not someone you NEED."

Beautiful Break Up Song
Is a beautiful breakup song really a thing? Yes. We all know that break ups are hard, especially when you are not ready to let go. In this song, Chester admits he still is not over his ex, but he is not begging or manipulating to get the person back: “The way that I feel is no longer your burden.” He says what we all have felt, that it is “hard to move on.” He expresses his feelings in a healthy way, even says he wants his ex to be happy even if that means choosing someone else: “If there is somebody that makes you feel happy, tends to your heart in the ways I’d been lacking, then who I am I to stand in your way?”
Wow. That is truly caring about the other person’s needs and not being selfish. That is a beautiful thing.

"This Life is Yours to Own"
We have collected a few videos that seem to flow together. An important thing to remember always is to love and accept yourself, scars and all and also give that same courtesy to others.
|
|
|
The first video is Alessia Cara's "Scars To Your Beautiful" We think it's message is that you should be able to feel ocmfortable in your own skin regardless of your story. She sings, "You don't have to change a thing, the world could change it's heart." Just be you and the people will learn to love you any way shape or form.
Then we move on a litle to "Someone You Love" by Arshad. The hardest thing sometimes is not just loving yourself, but loving yourself even when others are putting you down. Your life is worth keeping on, don't throw it away because others are willing to throw it away. It talks about self-empowerment, "This life is yours to own." It also has a message to be kind to others. You have no idea how much your words can impact someone for better or for worse.
This brings us to the last song, "My Kind of Love" by Emeli Sande. It starts off showing the actual damage that words do have on people. Words can hurt just as much as physical abuse. The harsh words are equated with bullets. But words can also heal. The lyrics, "Cause when you given up, When no matter what you do, it's never good enough. When you never thought that it could ever get this tough, That's when you feel my kind of love." This is her reaching out to show how love can change how a person feels, that real love will lift up, not put down. We should use our love in a way that makes someone feel better about themselves, not worse.

Can Shawn Mendes Treat You Better?
In Shawn Mendes' latest, he does bring to light a serious topic and gives valuable information at the end of his video, but...we are going to pick on his lyrics a bit. He recognizes that this young lady is in an unhealthy relationship, which is great, but instead of offering her help and building her up, he just says to dump the guy and start going out with him because he would treat her better. He then puts all the pressure on her and does a little victim blaming when he says, "And anytime you want it to stop...Tell me why are we wasting time, On all your wasted crime, When you should be with me instead." Woah, back off a little there buddy, just how is this better? Is this what a gentleman would say?
If you notice someone in an abusive relationship, offer support, help, and refer to a domestic violence shelter. They don't need a replacement partner, they need understanding, patience, a listening ear, a supportive friend. They may need safety because leaving is the most dangerous time for someone.
Yes, she deserves better, no one deserves to be hurt emotionally, verbally, or physically. But slow down and think of their needs, not your own. Let them heal before pouncing.

Olly Murs Knows Love
We are pretty happy with Olly Murs new song and video "You Don't Know Love." It is a great example of a healthy breakup song which is rare. Apparently whoever he was with (we think it is great that there is no gender mentioned so this song is open for everyone) was not the greatest partner. He opens with "I don't wanna be your lover, I don't wanna be your fool." He has had enough of what they were dishing out - the picking up and then throwing down and the lies. Olly even admits it is not all the partner's fault, that he made mistakes - this is way cool, because don't we all? He says it isn't easy, and that is the truth. It can be hard to let go of someone you love even when you realize it is not the best relationship for you. Every relationship stays with you, especially the scars. Realize you have value and don't stay in a relationship that doesn't build you up.
"In Common" has us a little confused
We usually love Alicia Keys, but this time we are not so sure. Here is one ambassador's thoughts "The lyrics show how she has low self-esteem about herself and that somebody must be 'messed up' to love and know her. The video shows people dancing wildly to make them seem 'messed up'." Several ambassadors thought that the dancers and their relationships were made to seem 'messed up' and that maybe portrays a negative message.
I guess sometimes we all feel 'messed up' or different and it is nice to have someone love us, and it is good to have things in common; but this just feels like a negative view of ourselves and our partners. But the beat makes it seem like a love song. We are just really confused.

Do we really like a Kid Ink & Fetty Wap song?
"Promise" by Kid Ink featuring Fetty Wap is not that bad. Dare we say that it might even be a pretty good song? There are only a few points we have issues with, the same with the video. Let's dissect it a little bit:
The Song: It is so awesome that this song is all about being true to one person. He is ready to stop being a dog and devote himself to one girl. Instead of portraying relationships without commitments, this song is dedicated to talking about how he will settle down with a single woman. This genre usually focuses on having multiple girls, sex, and drugs so this song is definitely going in the right direction. We just wished he didn't refer to females as bi***es. Plus he does talk about how when she goes "Kill Bill" it's so cute. Meh.
The Video: This is so cute, up until the wedding singer and after party. That is when things go downhill for us.
But overall we give a thumbs up to Kid Ink and Fetty Wap for promoting healthy relationships.

Meghan Trainor says, "We wrote this fiery anthem and it turned into a great women's anthem." The producer referred to the song as "bizarre" with a "very strong female-forward message." We would have to disagree. There are a few things that we just can't get behind.
Here are some of our thoughts:
So there you have it, for us, that song is "No" that video is "No."
What are your thoughts?
Here are some of our thoughts:
- *It promotes 'teasing' which isn't safe or appropriate in a situation where someone is being aggressive or won't back down ("lick your lips and shake your hips").
- *She is being seductive in the video, not really saying 'no'
- *I think that it can be a great song if some parts were to be taken out. I really like when she says the chorus. I don't believe the video goes with the song.
- *The video doesn't match the lyrics. The lyrics describe a party where an annoying guy keeps bothering this woman, but the video is overly sexual, and the setting is just odd.
- *Trying to emulate Rihanna too hard. Song doesn't even flow right.
- And words from one of our mothers: "as a Mother I find that a very dangerous song and video for young girls to watch/emulate. The movements/dress in the video are sexually provocative and although it is saying that girls can say ‘No’ to boys, the fact that she says “lick your lips, swing your hips and say no” is basically advocating teasing which is going to get someone into trouble. I’m disgusted by it."
So there you have it, for us, that song is "No" that video is "No."

Just Where Are All the Good Boys Hiding?
In Daya's song "Hide Away," she asks where do all the good boys go to hide away? It can be hard sometimes to find the right person. She lists things that she thinks boys want, "like the girls who laugh at anything, the ones who get undressed
before the second date, (the ones) who like to kiss and tell, talking them up about the things they do so well."
It can feel that way, that boys (or any partner you are looking for) are all the same and not in a good way. I have watched people change themselves to fit this stereotype because they think this is the way they are supposed to be. In all the movies and music, it is the 'bad boys' who get the girls therefore, you must be a little bad. Sad but true.
I know there are some good guys out there pretending to be something they are not. STOP trying to hide who you are; be real with us and we will be real with you. Some of us girls do want the good guy, let us know who you are!

"Baby, I be movin' on"
Justin Bieber's song "Love Yourself" is a good one to listen to for Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month.
"For all the time's you rain on my parade...You still hit my phone up...My momma don't like you and she likes everyone...You hated my friends...You told me my opinion was wrong...tried to make me forget where I came from...You made me feel small..." All these are warning signs of an abusive relationship. He realizes this and "Baby, I be movin' on...Didn't see what's going on, But now I know, I 'm better sleeping on my own...You should go and love yourself."

Let's Build a Monument to Our Love
The song lyrics are cute, but the story behind the couple in the video is even better. Long lasting real love. A couple who cherished one another while together, and LaLa continuing to cherish after Louise died. Can we all saw "Awww"
"What we have here is a failure to communicate"
Communication is so important in a healthy relationship. Poor Justin Bieber is so confused . So glad to hear him asking his partner what she means. Don't ever assume to know how someone is feeling or what they are thinking; chances are you are going to be wrong. Don't be afraid to ask, that shows respect and maturity. He even mentions the word 'compromise' which is awesome. Just remember that people have the right to change their minds, it is not always being indecisive. Sometimes things that felt right in the beginning start to feel wrong. Talking about instead of feeling hurt and confused or angry is a great way to understand.
"Life is Better When You Open Your Heart"
Mike Posner created some beautiful poetry with this song. There are times in our lives where we all feel the labels that society puts on us and we feel defeated, broken, and lost. Here is some great advice "You are stronger than you feel right now...Just be as you are...Life is better when you open your heart." It is time we accepted ourselves for who we are and to believe in ourselves.
Is Your Partner Your Cheerleader?
Most of this song by OMI is right on target. Your partner should be your cheerleader (And you should be the same for them). Your partner should be in your corner, give you love and affection, and motivate you through all life's troubles. This is a positive song about staying true and not cheating no matter how tempting someone else is. Although one verse about her granting all his wishes because he is the wizard of love with his magic wand...well, that part is not my favorite. Love isn't always about what one person wants, it is about compromise - sometimes we don't get what we want and neither does our partner. We have to give a little to get a little. But overall, this is a fun song with a great message. So happy that their are artist out there promoting the good stuff!
Dear Future Husband (Partner)- Good Advice?
Meghan Trainor's newest release, "Dear Future Husband" has a some good pointers for all partners out there:
1. "Take me on a date, I deserve it": No matter how long a couple has been together, going out and doing fun things together is important. Get away from the everyday and treat your partner - they deserve it!
2. "You gotta know how to treat me like a lady": Or treat your partner with respect - it works both ways.
3. "Tell me I'm beautiful, each and every night": Don't just assume your partner knows how you feel about them. Everyone needs reminders. Compliments feel amazing.
4. "After every fight, just apologize": Fights take two people and there are both sides to every story. Each person should apologize and listen to the other. It makes you a better person, not weak. (good stuff, but..."Even if I was wrong, You know I'm never wrong, Why disagree": Funny, yes; reality, no. No one is perfect, we need to own our mistakes, apologize for them, and learn from them.)
5. "Make time for me, don't leave me lonely": Never take your partner for granted. Make time for each other even when life gets busy. Let them know they are important to you.
6. "Open doors for me...Don't have a dirty mind, just be a classy guy": This goes towards respect as well. Little things matter.
"Future Husband (Partner), better love me right!"

Sam Hunt "Take Your Time"
It is a good thing when musical artists tackle a big issue . In this song and video, Sam Hunt shines the light on domestic violence. It is great that in the end he helps the woman; but we don't suggest confronting the abuser- it just isn't safe. That being said, Please DO SOMETHING! Hopefully before the situation escalates.
"Bright" by Echosmith
All that is right about a relationship.
"I think the universe is on my side; Heaven and Earth have finally aligned; Days are good and that's the way it should be..Nights are good and that's the way it should be...I'm in love...'Cause now I'm shining bright.; And I see colors in a different way; You make what doesn't matter fade to gray; Life is good and that's the way it should be."

"Honey I'm Good" by Andy Grammer
Andy Grammer’s new song “Honey. I’m Good” is a fabulous relationship song. The lyrics and video make us so happy. We hope this song gets more plays than Nick Jonas’ “Jealous.”
The lyrics talk about staying true to the one you love. Yes, there may be temptations, but in the end we have to remember the one who is there for us and walk away.
We love how the video shows diverse couples who have been together for long and short periods. Very adorable. True love is real and is possible. Never give up. Be the type of partner you want to find. Trust each other, talk to each other, and listen to each other.

Sia's newest single "Elastic Heart"
Sia's newest single has already generated a lot of attention--some deeming the music video to be "inappropriate" because of the obvious age difference of the performers. However, a closer look into the deeper meaning of the video and song reveals that it depicts the struggles in a father-daughter relationship. Some media outlets even stating that it is the personal story of Sia's relationship with her father and their struggles of dealing with mental illness and addiction. REMEMBER, we all have many different types of relationships in our lives and each of them impact us in different ways. What are your thoughts on this video?
Do You Like You?
It is not always easy to like yourself. We all too often compare ourselves to others or try to make ourselves into what we think everyone else wants us to be. This is a beautiful song to reminds us that love begins with ourselves. Like you- love you - accept you for who you are!
All I ever wanna be is somebody to you
It is great to think about your partner first. What matters most?
What a Love Song Should Be....
It is not easy to open up and trust someone, but when you find that person who will accept all of you for who you are, it can be a beautiful thing.
Taylor's new edgy song.
Is love a game? Sometimes when we have been hurt, we protect ourselves by becoming the ones who hurt. At least she is warning her partner that the worst is to come, but that doesn't excuse the pain. And again, here is another mention of jealousy - she "get's drunk on jealousy." Repeat after me, "Jealousy is not love."
" Even though I know you love me, can’t help it....It’s my right to be hellish,
I still get jealous"
Do we really have a "right" to get hellish? Is jealousy an excuse to abuse? It is often disguised as love, but it is really about control.
"But I still stay cause you're the only thing I know"
Cash Cash - Take Me Home
This song is fun to dance and sing along with; but when you stop and listen to the lyrics, you realize that this 'fun' song is about staying in an abusive relationship and the excuses we make for why we stay.
"I'm falling to pieces
But I need this
Yeah, I need this
You're my fault
My weakness
When did you turn so cold
You cut me down to the bone
Now you're dancing
All over my soul
I'm falling to pieces
To pieces, to pieces
But I still stay cause you're the only thing I know
So won't you take, oh, won't you take me home
Round in circles
Here we go
With the highest highs
And the lowest lows
But no one shakes me like you do
My best mistake was you
You're my sweet affliction
Cause you hurt me right
But you do it nice
Round in circles
Here we go
Oh Yeah
But I still stay cause you're the only thing I know
So won't you take, oh, won't you take me home
Take me home, home, home
Take me, I still stay, oh, won't you take me home
Take me home."

Shake Off All The Negativity
Taylor Swift's new song is a great story about "shaking off" all the negative things that people say and think about us. It is easy to sing and dance to, but hard to follow that advice in our lives. Other people's opinions of us do affect us, more than it should. We each have to start off loving ourselves and being comfortable with who we are. Try to tune out the haters. As you move along to "this sick beat" do you best to do what she is advising. Your life will be much happier!
"All About That Bass" and Body Image
There has been a lot of great discussion about this song. We will sum it all up with Chloe's thoughts, "I like this but at the same time I don't. Because, the whole "skinny b*****" bothers me. As well as the comparison to a Barbie doll. I think as long as you're healthy, you're beautiful and there's something to love about you. Every body type is beautiful, whether you're runway size or plus model size. You're a beaut. (-: I hate people who think it's okay to shame one body type to make another feel better. Like no. Everyone is gorgeous and amazing. And for someone to give you hate?? It's hypocritical. The song is uplifting but it could also hurt people. I don't get how some people don't understand that. Oh I know It probably wasn't her intention! I don't think she's a bad person or anything but I just still morally don't think it's right to say that kind of stuff, ya know? Like that's my opinion and everyone is entitled to theirs as well(: it's a touchy topic but it's also like you have to think about how others would hear the song. I actually listened to the whole thing three times to make sure I wasn't missing something. But yeah (I repeat earlier: I think as long as you're healthy, you're beautiful and there's something to love about you. Every body type is beautiful, whether you're runway size or plus model size. You're a beaut.)."

"Why does every princess need to have a prince? It's the same old story, but I'm just not convinced. Why keep on assuming men will save the day. We can be the heroes and do it our own way. Why be confined to be hiding behind true love? I'm who I am, I don't need a man!" - enough said!
Oh, J*Lo. The very end of her lyrics, she throws something good "I think I love just who you are; We haven’t grown apart; This is just the start where life begin a way to the end;And we started as friends but boy I do love;I luh ya papi, I luh ya papi."
And the beat is fun, the chorus catchy. BUT...the rest of the lyrics and video are way too sexual. We need a good dance song without all that, please!

5 Seconds of Summer new release "She Looks so Perfect"
We have mixed feelings about the song and video. On one hand, it has a bunch of people stripping their clothes off and the lyrics are about how good she looks in his underwear. We have to say, relationships should not be built solely on sex and we are not fans of half dressed images. That being said, how cool is it that even though this song is titled "She looks so perfect" the video has people of all shapes and sizes as well as ages {But not too much racial diversity except the prison :( } and they are happy with who they are and feel sexy. This is something to celebrate. You can be 'perfect' just the way you are.
We have to say that we love Zendaya. She is fun and extremely talented and she stays positive and keeps her clothes on. We think she is awesome! Not too many artist rely on their skills and voice to promote a song, but she does and it works so well.
